Loving The Unlovable

Most of us have been unlovable at some point, yet the parable of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15 reveals that God loves us anyway. The younger son demanded his inheritance, wasted it all, and ended up in a pit of his own making before finally coming to his senses and returning home. Rather than meeting him with judgment, the Father ran to him, embraced him, and fully restored him. This is a picture of how God responds when we turn back to Him. But the parable does not end there. The older brother, who never left home, struggled to share his father's joy over the younger son's return, showing that it is possible to be physically present yet far from God's heart. True love, the kind God calls us to, extends even to those who seem undeserving. God did not love us because we deserved it. He loved us because we needed it, and He calls us to love others the same way.
